LIST 22 - DEATHS - NORFOLK ISLAND

There were 98 deaths recorded on Norfolk Island by Reg Wright for this decade.
The Rev Fulton was posted to the island between 1801 and 1806 and he performed
40 burials. Why some deaths had burials and some did not is not explained.

The  first  burial was on 10th June 1801 and the last  26th  July 1805. Why none
in 1806 is uncertain.

The information recorded for each burial is as follows:
               date
               family name
               Christian name
               age
civil status at time of death
               year and ship of arrival
               comments
               reference number

The deaths are listed in chronological order.

It  should be pointed out that in the original register the  only information
recorded was; date, family name, Christian name  and very  occasionally  a
comment as to status  or  cause  of  death.
For  the colonial born their year of birth and parents names  are recorded in
the ship of arrival column.

The identity of all the deceased is known although the exact ship of arrival
of Private Clayton in 1793 is not recorded.

The age at death has been able to be calculated in thirteen cases.

To  locate an entry on this list; firstly an alphabetical  search on  the  name
would be made on List 19 using the code  "NI"  from which  the date of death
would be retrieved, secondly  using  the appropriate date, the death would then
be located on this list.
