LIST 35 - BURIALS - ST LUKES LIVERPOOL

The  first burial was performed on the 19th May 1811. During  the
remainder  of the decade there were 115 burials performed  at  St Lukes.

The information recorded for each burial is as follows:
               burial date
               death date
               Christian name
               family name
               age
civil status at time of death
               year and ship of arrival
               abode
               comments
               officiating minister
               reference number

The burials are listed in chronological order.

The  Rev  Samuel  Marsden performed the  first  burial.  The  Rev Rowland
Hassall appeared to be minister until the arrival of  Rev John  Youl
in May 1816 but the Rev John Eyre also  performed  the occasional
burial until Rev Youl's arrival. During Rev  Hassalls time the parish
clerks; Isaac Nelson and John Reeves appeared  to perform  the
occasional burial. In October 1819 the  Rev  Robert Cartwright  moved
from  St Matthews Windsor  to  take  over  the parish.

The  information recorded for each burial included date of  death after
July 1811, civil status, ship, parents in the case of  the colonial
born  and  cause  of death  in  occasional  cases.  The officiating
minister has also been recorded (in intitial form for space reasons).

Another pleasing aspect of the records from St Lukes is the  high
number of burials where the cause of death is recorded.

For  the colonial born their year of birth and parents names  are
recorded in the ship of arrival column.

The reference numbers for St Lukes run sequentially from 0001  to 0115
at the end of the decade.

To  locate an entry on this list; firstly an alphabetical  search on
the name would be made on List 29 using code "SLL" from  which the
date  of  burial  would be  retrieved,  secondly  using  the appropriate
date, the burial would then be located on this list.
