There  are  48 marriages claimed for Norfolk Island  during  this 'decade'. All the grooms

The information recorded for each marriage is as follows:

                    family name
                    Christian name
                    year and ship of arrival
civil status at time of marriage
                    age at marriage
               bride
                    family name
                    Christian name
                    year and ship of arrival
civil status at time of marriage
                    age at marriage

The  chaplain  to  the New South Wales  Corps,  Rev  James  Bain, visited Norfolk Island
in November 1794 as the first chaplain  to do so and it is documented that he performed numerous
marriages. Unfortunately  no  records from the period have been  located  at this  time so
all couples who are known to have had  children  by 1794  are  listed. Not all these couples
may in  fact  have  been married and there may well have been others who did marry but who
did not have children.

In  the  normally reliable genealogical source,  Mollie  Gillen's 'Founders of Australia'
it is stated that Thomas Crowder  married Mary  Smith  on the 22nd December 1799 at Norfolk
Island  but  to date no evidence for this marriage has been found.
