civil status at time of marriage
age at marriage
bride
family name
Christian name
year and ship of arrival

The marriages are listed in chronological order.
The Reverend Henry Fulton continued in his capacity as rector of St Peters
during the first few years of the decade until August 1825 when he was replaced
by the Reverend John Cross. The Rev Cross was replaced in turn by the Reverend
Elijah Smith in April 1828, only to be replaced in his turn in May 1829 by the
Reverend Joseph Docker.
In the original register the standard information recorded was; date, family
name and Christian name of both bride and groom and the officiating minister.
Information in the register but not included here includes; names of the
witnesses to the marriage. Interested readers are urged to consult the
originals.
The Rev Cross started to record the civil status of the participants
in 1826, a practice continued by the Rev Smith but discontinued in 1829 when
the Rev Docker took over the parish. However Docker on four occasions recorded
that the consent of the Governor was required so either one or both of the
participants was a prisoner of the Crown (convict).
As explained above the age at marriage is a derived figure.
The reference number would direct the reader to the entry in the original parish
register. In this decade the numbers run from 042 to 099. As with all the
churches in the colony, following Governor Brisbane's directive, St Peters
received a printed register but unlike most other churches the numbering system
of marriages did not revert to "1" but continued on from 1825.
On the 22nd June 1825 the register records a marriage between Samuel Mills
and Ellen Hargraves but neither party signed the register nor did the chaplain,
perhaps it never took place !
To locate an entry on this list; firstly an alphabetical search on the name
would be made on Lists 27 or 28 using code "SPR" from which the date of marriage
would be retrieved, secondly using the appropriate date, the marriage would
then be located on this list.
