A COMPENDIUM
OF MEMORIALS
HONOURING
GOVERNOR
ARTHUR PHILLIP
FOUNDER
OF AUSTRALIA
The Arthur Phillip Chapter of the
Fellowship of First Fleeters instigated a research project in
2018 with the aim of collecting what we anticipated would be a
relatively small number of memorials for Governor Arthur Phillip
R.N. It was a pleasant surprise that there are memorials and
plaques spread far and wide, sometimes in isolated locations,
all recognising important historical events during the early
settlement of Sydney. The author of this
Compendium of Memorials is Gillian Doyle, Vice President of the
Fellowship of First Fleeters.
