LIST 21 - BURIALS - ST JOHNS PARRAMATTA

There  were  324  burials  performed  at  St  Johns  during  this decade. There
were on average about three burials every month.
The information recorded for each burial is as follows:
               date
               family name
               Christian name
               age
civil status at time of death
               year and ship of arrival
               comments
               reference number

The burials are listed in chronological order.

It  should be pointed out that in the original register the  only information
recorded was; date, family name, Christian name  and very  occasionally  a
comment as to status  or  cause  of  death. Information in the register not
recorded here is the name of  the officiating minister.

For  the colonial born their year of birth and parents names  are recorded in
the ship of arrival column.

The  identities of 70% of the deceased have been found. Of  those whose  identities
have  not been found  around  one  third  were convicts  whose  ship could not
be located and around  one  third were infants whose parents have not been
identified.

The  age  at death has been able to be calculated  in  157  (48%) cases.

The register sadly records that six people were murdered.

The reference numbers run from 580 to 863 but 41 burials have  no number assigned
to them for some reason.

To  locate an entry on this list; firstly an alphabetical  search on  the name
would be made on List 19 using the code  "SJP"  from which  the date of death
would be retrieved, secondly  using  the appropriate date, the death would then
be located on this list.
